Fate Æffect - Parasomnia
[Dark Ambient]
https://neotantra.bandcamp.com/album/parasomnia

Introducing "Parasomnia": Fate Æffect's new Dark Ambient Electronic album that explores the realm of sleep disorders out now on Italian Ambient Label - Neotantra.

Guiding listeners through a haunting sonic landscape, Parasomnia delves deep into the mysterious realm of sleep disorders, inviting the audience to embark on a transformative musical journey before drifting off into slumber.

Drawing inspiration from various sleep disorders, Fate Æffect has translated these experiences into a unique musical language, effortlessly merging ambient textures creating ethereal and introspective soundscapes, enveloping the listener in an immersive tapestry of sonic whispers and hypnotic rhythms.
"Parasomnia" is designed to be experienced before entering the realm of dreams. Fate Æffect encourages
listeners to embrace the album as a tool for winding down, promoting a calm and meditative state of mind.

As the layers intertwine, they beckon the mind to wander, transcending the boundaries of consciousness and connecting with the deeper layers of the subconscious.

"Parasomnia" is set to release on 7 July 2023 on the Neotantra label.

Prelest at Hill Scene Live Arts Festival + Acid Slice 6

Tøn, aka Gareth Fox, will be presenting "PRELEST", this weekend at HillsceneLIVE 2018: The Hidden Live Art Festival. "Prelest" Is a combination of generative visuals and droning audio, promoting the contemplation of meaning through progressive sensory overload. Also featuring Fate Æffect aka Crowley doing live improv electronics and a live jam between Crowley and Fox as CLOUDS ABOVE CHAOS. A unique event for a great festival. Hope you can check it out.

On 24/11/2018 the 6th instalment of Acid Slice will be held at Loop Bar in Melbourne.
Acid Slice is a celebration of everything Acid, Acid House, Acid Techno, Braindance, IDM, electro, footwork and every other genre that embraces the fabulous silver box, the Roland TB303.
Acid Slice is Melbourne's only 303% Acid Music night.
Acid Slice focuses on live Acid with a least 3 live performances each night.

These live acts range from local legends of acid such as Honeysmack to fresh acts looking to get their acid on.
These live acts are supported by a stellar lineup of DJs who share their love of the acid sound.
This is not another techno night. Head down to Acid Slice and get a taste of all things acid.

featuring...
Live - ACM (Stable Music)
Melbourne local ACM, is known by many for his inspired, all hardware, live techno performances. Often playing with an element of improvisation, ACM keeps each set unique
and in the moment. ACM crafted his musical palette through his residencies as a DJ, playing house and techno at some of Melbourne’s most prominent nightspots. Those early days built the foundation for ACM’s live performance and production. A respected artist in the Melbourne techno scene for his experimental nature, ACM’s style is matured and characterised by his groovy bass lines, legato leads, and dreamy arpeggios.
Having supported some of the most revered names in house and techno, ACM aims to captivate his audience by drawing on his experiences as a DJ to tailor his sound live for the dance floor. With his execution thought out to the final reverberation, each element has its place in ACM’s live set.

Live - Tangent
Reuben Cumming, aka Tangent, is a newcomer to the Melbourne Techno scene with a huge love for polyrhythms and the squelch of a 303.
Previously, Reuben has worked as a sound engineer, sound designer and musician in both theatre and live music, having studied guitar and west African rhythms from a young age.
After years of performing in bands, his interest in technology combined with the frustration of being limited to a single instrument led him to live guitar looping and eventually, to creating live techno.
Reuben’s eyes were opened to the world of electronic music by artists such as Radiohead, Omar S, Honeysmack and particularly Four Tet’s productions and live performances, drawing him to live techno and producing dance music.
His love for techno was cemented when he discovered acid house and the sound of the Roland Tb303.
In his current live and hybrid sets, Reuben goes on an energetic, unpredictable and often improvisational tangent of techno which has been built from years of knob twiddling and party DJing.

DJ Set - Lani G (Bass Station)
Known for her infamous Madasss warehouse parties and smouldering sets. Lani G has been a stalwart on the Australian underground scene for the last 21 years.
Starting out playing gabba of all things, Lani has come along way and only now feels she’s truly solidified her sound. Dj’ing and producing sharp, deep and dark techno and house.
Having supported the likes of Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Shakta, Eric Powell, Mike Dearborn, HMC, Woody McBride, Paul Mac and more. This Melbourne rave queen is set to take you on a journey through a hard soundscape, where acid riffs go to feast.

residents...
DJ Set - C:1 (SUPER ENJOY)
With precision cuts and a record collection that would make any selekta salivate with envy, Cam Ashley, better known as C:1, has etched a name for herself among the best in Melbourne’s underground electronic music scene, playing alongside some of the world greats such as; LTJ Bukem, Doc Scott, Klute, Amit, Skynet, Dbridge, Digital, DJ Godfather, Egyptian Lover, DJ Hype, Kenny Ken, DJ SS and Aphrodite.

Live - Dylab with releases on New York Haunted , DETROIT UNDERGROUND, Balkan Vinyl, Acidchicken, Slice Records, Acid Worx, Trax Records and others dyLAB is a highly prolific acid machine. His live sets, free from the confinements of genre and tempo are an exploration of all things acid.

Interview in Beat Magazine

Slice Records chat about their upcoming Geotech 2 party and the diversity of electronicFounders of Slice Records, Cristian Crowley, James Woodcock and Gareth Fox met through mutual friends and bonded over shared musical interests.

By Kate Streader

From there, “the triad of Slice”, as they now call themselves, decided to form the record label as a way to release their own music, which progressed into an avenue for showcasing other local acts.

“Really, it was a platform for us to play our own music. We were finding it difficult to get gigs with some of the bigger labels so we thought ‘If they can do it, why can’t we do it?’ ” says Woodcock. “We’ve been making music for ten years now, and over that time we’ve become friends with a lot of artists who have similar feeling in regards to that they want to play their music, we want to be able to play our music, and it was built from that.

“It was more of an excuse to give ourselves some gigs and at the same time, bring together all the things we appreciate in the electronic scene,” says Crowley. “Locally more so than anything,” Woodcock adds.

“A love of wanting to showcase our creativity and also arts. People who do graphic design and do really cool stuff also mingle with those guys. They show their artworks at the events.”

Slice Records focuses on underground electronic artists, with the label featuring an array of diverse acts across the multi-faceted genre. The label also shines a light on graphic designers and visual artists. Slice Records have now set their sights on creating events to combine these two elements and provide exposure for local talent.

“Being electronic producers ourselves, we tend to look for artists out there who are doing really interesting things and new stuff,” says Crowley. “We like building gigs around our tastes. We make a gig that we would like to go see.”

“One gig could be more techno-orientated and then the next gig we have under the same event heading might be a chill night, then we might go more industrial. There’s a lot of various styles that we like,” says Woodcock.

Slice Records will be hosting Geotech 2, an event that aims to showcase Melbourne electronica acts and visual artists. The Slice team hope to make the show a monthly event.

“With this next Geotech, we’re keeping it very eclectic [and] dance orientated. We’ve got a couple of acts who are doing a lot of live electronica, we’ve got producers and DJs who are playing their own material,” says Crowley. “As much as it’s a night that’s showcasing different artists around Melbourne, we also want to put on a good party for everybody to have fun.

“We’ve got Trickbox headlining, and Michael Scarlett from Culture Jam – he puts on all live orientated performances where he builds this set as he goes, it’s very improv and a hundred percent live, which is the type of electronica that we definitely love to showcase with these Geotech nights. It’s more focused on live performance electronic.”

“And there’s some DJs as well, like myself. I make my own music but just to say I’m more confident with DJing my own tracks than putting together a live set at this stage. We have a mash of that sort of thing,” says Woodcock. “And then we have a very live act called Sikander and they’re world music sort of stuff, they have wavedrums, a sitar and guitar, and saxophone.”

“Electronica is very diverse so we don’t like to just have a night that’s completely dedicated to one type of music, we definitely like to change it up. With Geotech 3, that’s going to be quite a darker night with a lot of industrial/break, so expect more experimental styles of electronica,” says Crowley. “We’ve got a really nice lineup for that, a lot of producers and artists on that list that I admire so I’m really looking forward to that one.

“And then we’ve got a chill party in August with Kerensa [Stephens], she’s coming up from New Zealand, so it’s going to be a more ambient, chill night from the doom and gloom that we’re going to experience with Geotech 2 – a nice little come down."

Catch Geotech 2 on Saturday July 1, Geotech 3 on Saturday July 29 and Geotech 4 on Saturday August 12, all at Bar 303.
